In my copy of Diamonds of the Night, he inscribed, "For Harvey, the best student in my class." (I wasn't, by a long shot.) Found out later that he wrote that in every student's book for that class.

Thanks for the memories - I found your post when I searched google for "arnost lustig AND you beast." :)Harvey Morrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09213809718401197131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-73728029855355404482013-07-21T05:04:26.187-04:002013-07-21T05:04:26.187-04:00Scarlet Street (1945) Free Movie Online in HDScarlet Street (1945) Free Movie Online in HD
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-91652641701473979952012-08-07T09:39:04.662-04:002012-08-07T09:39:04.662-04:00Might be interesting to complement this viewing wi...Might be interesting to complement this viewing with Ken Russell's Valentino, a film about the dancer/actor's life story seen through the women who loved him.Clara Paisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-7224064606953658962011-07-28T06:50:21.986-04:002011-07-28T06:50:21.986-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Bernardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08428785668185125514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-50310900869001197422011-07-03T12:52:43.284-04:002011-07-03T12:52:43.284-04:00er Delmore Schwartz??er Delmore Schwartz??davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07622592113734071021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-24894513456980386882010-03-14T16:08:54.260-04:002010-03-14T16:08:54.260-04:00Hello Mr. Welt, my name is Bob Tonucci, I live in ...Hello Mr. Welt, my name is Bob Tonucci, I live in Maryland –- I have a friend named Tom Graves who edits the poetry website Scarriet. I stood where the final scene was shot and is now called the German Resistance Memorial. If I hadn't been there, I may agree that the film was entirely aloof, but I knew what happened in the end. There is a book about Claus Graff Von Stauffenberg (may be missing another name ;) ) and other failed attempts to kill Hitler, there were many even though I was taught in America that there were none. I must really compliment for your vivid and expressive style of critique. At my own risk of sounding ignorant, may I ask you if you are professional in the art. If you are, you bring me back some lost confidence in the art of reviews. If you are'nt, bad luck to the professional world of movie reviews. Thanks very much again for this posting. Krugman has always been very much the doomster, but there is nothing in this assessment that strikes me as dishonest, or ideological, or alarmist. If anything, this is the cold hard fact divorced from even more nihilist interpretations of the disaster in waiting (all passes at Blanchot and futurity aside). This "crisis" signifies a small-s socialist bail-out of AIG, and the ownership of a vast amalgamated network of "futures" in a capitalist system. Something is being bought. Like the cracked Babylonian vessel that is the war in Iraq the American worker (as John McCain is wont to say) owns it all; the question is who pays?

I prefer a less metered reaction. I have recently joined a facebook group called "Those Fucking Greedy Banker Douchebags Can Fuck Themselves," and I believe in the guillotine as a revolutionary instrument. Sen. Obama could propose a steep reapportionment of shared costs to the managerial class, to offset the burden. It is impossible to see how Sen. McCain can now step off his high horse and debate how he is a populist while also in favor of rewarding those biggest of piggies who broke their own banks. Obama could author, with the Democrats something of a new deal, though I hope not, as I am an apocalyptic fellow, and I encourage people to vote McCain, as I wish to hasten total disaster.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-11175752205908214972008-07-25T07:37:00.000-04:002008-07-25T07:37:00.000-04:00hahaha, bernard you know that the main guy is tota...hahaha, bernard you know that the main guy is totally you!, nice moves.shawn moriartyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00523329528589570895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16390723.post-65139143945444503342008-07-07T22:26:00.000-04:002008-07-07T22:26:00.000-04:00Hmm...no David Lynch. If he's such an enlightened poet, I think he shouldn't disparage other poets, even if he doesn't respect their work. For over ten years I have recited my lyric poetry accompanied with my lute. Yes, I frequently perform my poetry at Ren Fairs, Medieval Times, and various Darkon-related events in the DelMarVa. A lot of my poetry is explicitly about nature. You would think that Mr Bernard Welt would approve of that, but I guess you would be wrong. Do I sometimes wear unbifurcated garments whilst reciting my poetry? Yes. Maybe that's what this is all about.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
